Quietly and secretly for many months I endured 6 to 8 hours a day of learning an entirely new instrument and envisioning the sound of what will come in my head. How do I make the sound of the origin of all Heavy Metal (the Blues) and combine it with some of my heroes of slide guitar (Duane Allman and Derek Trucks), give some of my Thrash that’s permanently in my bloodstream, and then find the correct voice to sing on top of this dream ?
Welcoming my friend and vocalist Don Chaffin into DII was just an instant YES !! We had teamed up together previously with Red Lamb, but unfortunately his vocal abilities that are truly more in the realm of a combination of some of the greatest singers of all time, fused with a hint of the greatest that are out there right now, was placed on hold for that project and restricted to a very small box. I just felt compelled to let the world know, not only is Don one the most incredible people I know on a personal level, but his voice deserves to be heard and appreciated by millions and placed upon a pedestal with the greatest of the greats.
Don brings a level of expertise and execution of endearing passion, love and heart felt emotion that fits right within the voicing of what my Weissenborn lap guitar does to the listener. Pure emotion inflicted upon someones heart forever.
Together just the two of bring forth such an emotional ride on our Original songs their really are no words to explain the outcome. We don’t fit in a genre because there’s been nothing previous to us that is us. We stamp together to forge a new sound that becomes one. We hope others will follow our little freak show duo and learn more about my instrument (the Weissenborn) and its ability to not be contained inside a box, a genre or any musical platform that has boundaries .
DII is a cross platform united sound that appeals to both male and female, and the music fits across all platforms from playing on Metal festivals to playing at a black tie fundraising philanthropic events or even on a progressive music tour.
Once again inventing a new path, a new sound, a new way to bring attention and awareness to the word Autism, and connecting all this with my Swiss Watchmaking pedigrees, DII enters into a full time musical journey on unchartered waters ahead.
Would I do anything different?
Our words speak the truth of relationship battles, mother to children bonds of love (our new Autism song) and so much more. I walk the truth each day of my life, and our music speaks the truth for all. Only this time the instrument is laid on my lap.
